Wavertree athlete represents England on European stage

Liverpool Harriers athlete Charlie Hulson finished in 17th place at the European Cross-Country Championships in Tilburg, as Great Britain and Northern Ireland secured six medals.

The British team managed one gold, and finished in fourth place overall.

Hulson, who finished fourth in the qualifying event at Sefton Park in November, crossed the line in 29:43. Ross Millington and Nick Goolab, who finished ahead of Hulson in Liverpool, claimed 30th and 47th place finishes respectively.

The Wavertree based athlete was part of a senior men’s team that secured a silver medal in the Netherlands, much thanks to a 9th place finish from Richmond and Zetland runner Marc Scott.

The senior men’s race was won by Norwegian Filip Ingebrigtsen, but Turkey secured gold as a team, with three top 10 finishers.

Hulson, along with the rest of the British team, will return their focus to the UK Cross Challenge Series. The next event is held in Dundonald, Belfast on the 19th January.
